Grades 3-5 Kids Camp Electives

The following electives are what we plan to offer for the following grades 3-5 (born 2006-2008), and time slots. Please take note of which electives your child may be interested in to help speed your registration process. The registration process will require them to select one morning and one afternoon elective for the week. Please check back before registration night to ensure the choices haven’t changed. (Note: There are limited available registration spaces in each elective.)

 


Grades 3-5 (Born 2006-2008): Morning Electives

ASL 101 (FULL)
In this elective children learn the basics of Sign Language (ASL) and how to communicate to people who sign. Learn basic words, letters, and even a song in this elective!

Taste and See (FULL)
Try out some basic recipes as you prepare to become a Master Chef! Along with this year’s theme, campers will learn the basics and tastes of various types of food, styles, and presentation.

TGFU (Teaching Games for Understanding)
Join us in this thematic approach to sports. We will study concepts and skills that apply to different sports by playing a variety of target, net, invasion, and field games. Campers in this elective will be taught the primary rules, fundamental skills, and tactical problems as they develop an understanding of the skills and tactics associated with playing various sports. Astronomy (FULL)
Ever looked up in space and wondered what was out there? Maybe you’ve wondered about the God who made it all. Join us in this elective as we study stars and solar systems and learn about how small we actually are.

Soccer (FULL)
Play in our soccer elective and you’ll learn the rules, skills, and strategies of the world’s biggest game. Campers will learn how to hone their skills in passing, kicking, running, and field formation.

Flag Football (FULL)
Winning the Super Bowl takes a lot of hard work and practice. Campers in this elective will learn the basics of running, throwing, catching, and calling the plays of football. This one’s a touchdown!

Cookies n’ Creme (FULL)
You can’t eat everything in the kitchen without first learning how to make it! Campers in this elective will learn how to decorate and be creative with cookies and cakes.

Gardening (FULL)
You can’t grow a green thumb but you can certainly learn how to get one! Join us in this elective as we explore plants, flowers, potting, and the amazing design of God’s beautiful creation.

Automotive (FULL)
You can’t own a car yet, but that doesn’t have to stop you from learning how to care for, clean, and show-off vehicles! We learn how to do all of these things and you’ll even have a chance to see and some really cool cars.

Messy Crafts (FULL)
Time to get our hands dirty while doing some super fun and creative crafts.

Road Hockey (FULL)
Come play some good old-fashioned street hockey. Learn how to play on a team, carry the ball, pass, defend, and score.

Crazy Creative Cards (FULL)
Ever wanted to make your own birthday cards, party invites, or get-well cards? Join us for a fun week of card making and cool paper crafts! We will be creating everything from scratch and you’ll go home with everything you make.

Pickleball (FULL)
Learn one of the fastest growing sports! Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. This outdoor elective is super fun and easy to play. (No pickle-eating is required in this elective.)

Baseball (FULL)
Hit a home run, run the bases, and pitch a no-hitter. This elective is sure to be a homer as campers learn the basics of baseball and t-ball. Who knows, maybe you have what it takes to be a future Blue Jay. (Note: Children in this elective are required to bring their own baseball glove)

Hairstyling (FULL)
Come learn what to do with crazy bedhead hair—learn how to braid, twist, curl, or style hair, plus more fun tips and tricks all while learning about what true beauty means in God’s eyes.

Grades 3-5 (Born 2006-2008): Afternoon Electives

Master Builders 3 (FULL)
In Master Builders 3 we won’t just build with lego, we will compete with it, create with it, and use it in ways that only the best master builders can imagine. Bring a competitive mind as we’ll line up our creations to find who is the biggest, strongest, fastest, and most impressive!

Ultimate Frisbee
Do you have what it takes to be on the ultimate team? Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, American Football, and Netball into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game.

Field Sports (FULL)
Join us in Field Sports this summer as we introduce you to the fundamental concepts and skills behind popular ball sports.

Flag Football (FULL)

Superhero Fitness
It’s a bird, it’s a plane . . . nope! It’s campers training to be healthy, active, and fit. Hit the challenge course daily with a variety of fitness and skill training stations. It’s takes hard work being in shape like Superman and Batman and they certainly don’t do their training in front of the TV!

Automotive

Nail Art (FULL)
In this elective we explore creative ways to decorate nails! You’ll learn about fun techniques, designs, colours, and nail care.

Ping Pong (FULL)
Here we learn the rules and basics of ping-pong. You learn through various stations and scrimmaging how to serve, return, spin, and smash home the ball while exploring the game of ping-pong. Olympics, here we come!

Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course (FULL)
This elective offers boys and girls basic first aid and caregiving skills as well as home alone safety for youth with a birthdate of September 1, 2006 or earlier. Campers will learn how to provide care to younger children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers participants the training to promote themselves as a babysitter to prospective parents! Completion Requirements for this elective are contingent on 100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 75% minimum passing grade on written test.

Basketball (FULL)
Come and learn basics of the game. Skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and don’t worry we will have plenty of game time to prove you’re the next Curry, Lebron, or Lowry!

EnviroDrum
Feel the rhythm and bounce to the beat. Spend your week learning the basics of keeping a beat and making some noise on a variety of percussion instruments. Who knew that so many household items could be used to make your very own percussion instruments?

Photography (FULL)
Capturing the perfect photo is more than the push of a button. In this elective, kids will learn the basics photography, how to take care of a camera, how to look for the perfect shot and how to capture it. You’ll have beautiful framed photos with these learned skills in no time! (NOTE: Children in this elective are REQUIRED to bring their own photo capturing device. Ex: iPad, iPod, Digital Camera)

Science 4 Kids! (FULL)
Learn the fun and hands-on world of science as we explore different mixtures, experiments, and projects that will certainly make you say, “Wow!”
