Grades 3-5 Kids Camp Electives

The following electives are what we plan to offer for the following grades 3-5 (born 2007-2009), and time slots. Please take note of which electives your child may be interested in to help speed your registration process. The registration process will require them to select one morning and one afternoon elective for the week. Please check back before registration night to ensure the choices haven’t changed. (Note: There are limited available registration spaces in each elective.)

 


Grades 3-5 (Born 2007-2009): Morning Electives

Taste and See 
Learn and try out some basic recipes as you prepare to become a Master Chef! Along with this year’s theme, campers will learn the basics and tastes of various types of food, styles and presentation.

Gardening
You can’t grow a green thumb but you can certainly learn how to get one! Join us in this elective as we explore plants, flowers, potting, and the amazing design of God’s beautiful creation.

Stamping and Scrapbooking
A creative elective learning fun ways to remember life events and share memories with paper, design, and super-fun stamps!

Messy Crafts 
Time to get our hands dirty while doing some super, awesome, fun and creative crafts. This hands-on messy elective will allow kids to explore and create some fun projects like paper-mache!

Sign Language
Children will learn the basics of communicating in sign language and enjoy creating some “Deaf Art”

ArchKIDtecture
If you love to keep busy, use your imagination and be creative, this year’s ArchKIDtecture elective might just be for you! In this class, we’ll have the chance to dream up a home design, build a geodesic dome and a lego village. We’ll learn how to sketch some cool buildings and, last but not least, we’ll be having our bridge design competition! 

Flag Football
Winning the SuperBowl takes a lot of hard work and practice. Campers in this elective will learn the basics of running, throwing, catching, and calling the plays of football. This one’s a touchdown!

Tees n’ Beads
Are your tee-shirts in need of a new splash of colour? Join us in whipping up playful pony-beaded fringed tees! This easy craft is sure to be a fun expression of your creative ability! (Tees provided)

Writer’s Workshop
Who’s ready to write? Using the incredible diversity of the Bible, with its variety of authors and writing styles, we’ll work together to write the next great adventure story!

Skipping
School is out but recess fun doesn’t need to end! Come learn new single rope tricks, double dutch, and play some games within the ropes! 

Soccer
Play in our soccer elective and you’ll learn the rules, skills, and strategies of the world’s biggest game. Campers will learn how to hone their skills in passing, kicking, running, and field formation.

Lawn Games
Classic summer games that are played on a lawn, whether in a backyard, at a park or near the beach – like spikeball, bocce, kan-jam, and croquet. Learn the equipment, rules, and strategy for each and then join in some fun games together!

Ultimate Frisbee
Do you have what it takes to be on the ultimate team? Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, American Football, and Netball into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game.

Sew Fun
Whether you love to sew or have always wanted to learn, this elective is for you! Come on out and make some fun projects to take home with you. Learn techniques as you sew by hand as well as with a sewing machine. No need to bring anything, all machines and materials will be provided. Use your artistic minds to personalize your useful crafts and come ready for a good time. 

My Own Bake Shop
This elective will give each child an opportunity to come up with their own name and brand for their own Bake Shop. They will design their own logo and have the opportunity to make create their own packaging for each of the fun baked good that they will also create and decorate in class. Every day they will go home with yummy baked goods in a package they can say came from their own bake shop.

Sphero Robotics Funlab
Nurture your imagination and learn to code with Sphero robotic balls. Campers will immerse themselves in the easy to learn SpheroEdu app to program these interactive robots and make them weave through geometric mazes, zoom over and around obstacles and create robotic dances.

Campers need to bring a Bluetooth enabled Apple or Android device preloaded with the SpheroEdu app and fully charged every day. The device will be stored in the classroom during camp.

Grades 3-5 (Born 2007-2009): Afternoon Electives

Flag Football 
Winning the Super Bowl takes a lot of hard work and practice. Campers in this elective will learn the basics of running, throwing, catching, and calling the plays of football. This one’s a touchdown!

Science 4 Kids! 
Learn the fun and hands-on world of science as we explore different mixtures, experiments, and projects that will certainly make you say, “Wow!”

Field Sports 
Join us in Field Sports this summer as we introduce you to the fundamental concepts and skills behind popular ball sports.

Basketball 
Come and learn basics of the game. Skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and don’t worry we will have plenty of game time to prove you’re the next Curry, Lebron, or Lowry!

ArchKIDtecture

Crazy Creative Cards
Ever wanted to make your own birthday cards, thank you cards, or fun paper boxes? Join us for a fun week of card making and cool paper crafts! We will be creating everything from scratch and you’ll go home with everything you make.

Road Hockey
Come play some good old-fashioned street hockey. Learn or improve your stick-handling, passing, shooting, and finish off the elective with playing on a team in a game scenario to put your skills to work. Do you know any NHL Hockey Hero’s of Faith? Come find out who they are!

Pickle Ball
Learn one of the fastest growing sports! Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. This outdoor elective is super fun and easy to play. (No pickle-eating is required in this elective.)

Canadian Red Cross Babysitting
This elective offers boys and girls basic first aid and caregiving skills as well as home alone safety. Campers will learn how to provide care to younger children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers participants the training to promote themselves as a babysitter for prospective parents! Completion Requirements for this elective are contingent on 100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 75% minimum passing grade on a written test. This elective is only for campers who will be 10 years of age by the time of camp.
