Refugee Crisis Update – May 2016

Many of you have been deeply impacted by the news and images coming out of the Middle East and Europe as the refugee crisis continues to unfold. 4.5 million people have been forced to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere. We as a church have now formed a ministry team tasked with sponsoring and hosting our first family as well as local resettlement outreach initiatives.

This team has prepared and sent in an application to sponsor a specific family currently living in Lebanon. Working alongside WORLD RENEW as the sponsorship agreement holder, we are prayerfully awaiting approval and arrival of this family to Canada. For the time being, this is our primary goal, but this team will also be looking into ways for our church to further assist in the wave of refugees settling in Canada.

Refugee 1

Please Pray – The global displacement of people is a movement of God, and we see this as a huge opportunity to show the love of Christ in truth and deed. Act 17:26 reminds us: “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should see God, and perhaps feel their way towards him and find him.”

Please be prepared to give – On the weekend of June 4 – 5 we will be collected a special offering to help support the cost of getting the sponsor family settled in Canada, as well as other local outreach initiatives.

Please be prepared to help – If you would like to be involved in the resettlement process, please fill out the quick form below and you will be contacted with more information. Please prayerfully consider how the Lord is directing you to help.
