Summer Internships

We are excited about the possibilities for the summer of 2017. We believe the interns of Harvest Oakville must have a sense of calling and heart to serve God and those He calls to be part of our church family. We highly value humility and a passion for the Lord over other giftedness.

All applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Maturing follower of Jesus Christ with character consistent with Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7
  • Authentic lifestyle demonstrating consistent character and spiritual growth
  • Agreement with Harvest Oakville’s doctrinal statement
  • A commitment to the mission, vision, and leadership of Harvest Oakville
  • Must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
  • Must be younger than 30 years old.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

Youth Ministry

Start Date: May 30
Hours per week: 30 (7.5 hrs, 9:30-5 Tuesday-Friday)
End Date: August 25, 2017

SUMMARY
The intern will report to and work directly with the Youth Pastor to accomplish different assigned tasks for the Youth Ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Youth Ministry: (Tuesday – Friday)
  • Actively serve in Youth Ministry on a weekly basis and JR High day camp
  • Prepare for weekly Youth Ministry
  • Maintain organization of Youth Ministry resources
  • Maintain Youth Ministry data
  • Assist in coordination and preparation for weeklong JR High day camp
  • Function in a leadership role during week-long JR High day camp
  • required to be present for any youth ministry event throughout internship

SUPERVISION AND MENTORING PLAN

  • Take direction of assigned duties and tasks from the Youth Coordinator as well as the Youth Pastor
  • Meet regularly with the Youth Ministries staff team to determine the week’s priority projects
  • Various Reading Assignments

HEALTH AND SAFEY IN THE WORKPLACE

  • The intern will receive Health and Safety training on their first day including Emergency Procedures, WHMIS training, Emergency phone numbers, first aid station locations, Plan to Protect (for children and adults), and Accessibility Customer Service Training.

SUMMARY
The intern will work directly with the Young Adults Ministry Coordinator to accomplish various tasks related to the Young Adults Ministry. Clear deadlines and expectations will be given for each project, and continual communication and feedback given throughout each task. The environment will be open to questions and conversation about the technical, but also about leadership and how to manage people.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, leadership training, weekly and monthly programs.
  • Organize community volunteer initiatives in surrounding cities.
  • Initiate and develop new community development opportunities for over 200 participants.

Videography

SUMMARY
The intern will work directly with the Videographer to accomplish different assigned tasks for the ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel. Clear deadlines and expectations will be given for each project, and continual communication and feedback given throughout each task. The environment will be open to questions and conversation about the technical, but also about leadership and how to manage teams.

ROLE

  • Attend meetings with the Creative Team
  • Edit various projects, including weekly recap of sermon, photos taken of ministries, and live events, special events, and camp recaps.
  • Assist in shooting life-change stories, teaching aids for weekend services, web informational videos, live events, and camps (Kids and Jr. High).
  • Main shooter for footage of camps in both video and photography.
  • Run live studio camera during weekend services as part of the IMAG (Image Magnification) Team and possible Directing/Switching during Kids Camp.
  • Archiving and file management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to take direction well
  • Able to lift/carry camera equipment up to 25 pounds

Finance and Accounting

Department: Finance – Two Positions

SUMMARY
The intern will work directly with the Director of Finance and Stewardship to accomplish various tasks related to the Finance Department of Harvest Bible Chapel. Clear deadlines and expectations will be given for each project, and continual communication and feedback given throughout each task. The environment will be open to questions and conversation about the technical, but also about leadership and how to manage people.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid in daily bookkeeping: (bank reconciliations, accounts payable, inter-company reconciliations, fixed asset reconciliations)
  • Monthly reporting
  • expense reporting
  • Income reconciliations
  • Financial policy adherence

Children’s Ministry

Start Date: Immediately

Duration of Job: 7 weeks

SUMMARY
The Children’s Ministry Summer intern will carry out the mission of Harvest Bible Chapel Oakville as they work alongside the Pastor of Children’s Ministry, staff, and workers. The heart of this role is to help support the weekly ministry events, Harvest Kids Camp, and the people within the church as they serve in this ministry.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Aid in recruiting, screening, retaining, supporting, and training children’s workers for effective service.
  • Coordinate weekly scheduling for weekend children’s programs.
  • Actively serve in the Children’s Ministry on weekends including captaining and/or teaching.
  • Prepare for weekend services including classroom materials and setup.
  • Maintain organization of Children’s Ministry resources including resource room, classrooms, and ministry inventory.
  • Assist in coordination and preparation of week-long children’s day camp (800 children grades JK to Grade 5 and 300+ volunteers).
